My workplace has multiple locations in the city. Sometimes I have to travel back and forth between two of them. Yesterday, I had my first and last meetings of the day at the far, far away office. (First meeting was at 8AM, kill me.)
Since my office and the far away location are about 20 minutes apart walking, and including my commute, I probably spent two hours walking yesterday.
I don’t really wear heels but at work, I kind of have to. But as any New Yorker can tell you:
heels + New York City sidewalks = destruction of rubber
In case you have no idea what I’m talking about:
Not only is it uncomfortable, but the nail scrapes on the ground like a nail on a chalkboard. So, why don’t I get them fixed or buy new shoes?

…Which is why I’d like to announce my candidacy for Mayor of New York City in 2025, based on the platform of replacing all the city sidewalks with that cushy track material.
