Ok, so remember like a month or so back when I had to “break night” for editing and I was pretty freaking proud of myself that I could still do it?
Well, the truth is that even though that experience was fun, I would have been happy not to see the inside of an editing room ever again. But apparently that’s not how writing/producing works.
This weekend, Amanda and I locked ourselves in with our brilliant editor for 24 hours. (Ok so it was actually 12 hours each day and we didn’t pull any all nighters this time; thank God.)
See, what we did last month was a “Festival Edit” of the pilot; also known as the “We Ran Out of Time Edit”. So now we’re working on getting it just the way we want it.
Editing is expensive, time consuming, emotionally exhausting, and tedious. But I’m excited because it will all be worth it once we (someday) perfect our masterpiece.
Also, we’ve learned a LOT about what we can do in the planning phase to make editing go smoother next time.
As I once said, which Amanda always quotes back to me: Every independent producer has a first project and this is ours.
As Tracy Jordan once said: “This is a learning and friendship adventure.”
And, as I’m about to say right now: I hope we finish this soon because enough already.
