Dear Weirdos and Creeps of New York: Stop it.

Last night, I posted this…

Overheard in New York (…in the course of a day)

Yesterday, I had the New Yorkiest day ever.

I left my office job and went to the table reading of my web pilot (seriously, how New York is that sentence?) Not enough? I ordered us up a couple cheese pies on Seamless. More? Then I couldn’t get a cab to Penn Station so I had to walk. Boom.

Five Annoying Things About Producing

As I’ve mentioned, I’m working on an independent web pilot with my friend/partner Amanda.

Neither of us have produced anything before. I don’t know if other producers have these problems. I don’t know if these will even seem like real problems in a couple weeks. But here are the five biggest things that are on my nerves right now.

1. Rewrites

Keep Calm and Carry On

I didn’t know that our lives had changed forever.

I returned from badminton, the only PE class I could get into as a freshman. As I had done the previous Tuesday, I quickly got ready to shower and hurry to my next class.

As I grabbed my towel, my roommate Peggy came in to tell me some terrible news. Something about a plane crash. I tuned out. Peggy was really into the news and I was just into myself.

“That’s horrible!” I said, generically, and headed for the bathroom.

In the shower, something hit me. Did she say “…hijacked and flown into the World Trade Center?”

Shoes And The City

I can’t really wear heels. Have I mentioned that?

Today’s the first day of the year above 70 degrees (22? celsius? it’s impossible to know for sure) in New York and that means everyone’s walking around in their Carrie Bradshaw heels, all…

Project Optimism: Eastsiders Webseries

Eastsiders is premiering April 23 on

Check out the preview here.

I would really love it if you could all watch this so we can discuss. I’ve already seen the first three episodes and this show is addictive. It’s sort of like a soap opera but condensed into 10 minutes or like a teen dramedy for adults.

And unlike when I’m watching mainstream TV with my husband*, when I yell “Kiss! Kiss!” they actually do.

but how satisfying would that be, seriously?

Project Optimism: So, I Lost My Phone

funny-lost-phone-silent-modeFriday after improv, a couple of us went out to karaoke. Since two hours is never enough karaoke, I missed the 1:40 train. So, I was forced to hang out and drink until 4am. Tough times.

Flash forward: I wake up at 5:21 am in Huntington. The train is sitting in the station, empty. Any true Long Islander can tell you what that’s like, and also what happens next: you hear the “Beep Beep Beep” of death, the doors close and you have to frantically fly around the train trying to find a conductor to let you off before you end up at the yard.

This knowledge in mind, I jumped up and fled the train. This was when I lost my phone.

The Universe Speaks Through Fortune Cookies

What is it about Chinese fortunes? I know they’re meaningless, but if I get a good one, I believe it.

Some time last year, I got the fortune:

Your secret desire to completely
